Lavelle Library Media Center
Open from 7:00 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. on school days, the Lavelle Library Media Center is a rich resource for the Cristo Rey community. Students can access computers, printers, a copier, online resources, books and magazines to help them with their homework before and after school.
The Library houses a collection of more than 12,000 books and 500 DVDs and audiobooks, 30% of which are in Spanish. In addition, the Library subscribes to more than 40 magazines and newspapers and ten online research tools. These resources help to enrich the students' education and support the school's curriculum.
This warm and inviting space seats 50, offers three study rooms, and has an adjacent media lab with 30 computers.
Technological Skill Building
To better prepare our students for collegiate coursework, Cristo Rey actively incorporates technology into the curriculum. With more than 350 tablets and devices, students have access to technology and the opportunity to build skills that prepare them for college.
In addition to digitized grades and incorporating technology into the curriculum, faculty often "flip the classroom," a practice that requires students to watch pre-recorded lectures the evening before class and apply new concepts during instructional time the following day. This inquiry-based approach mimics the preparation and structure of a college-level course.
Homework and Tutoring Center
The Homework and Tutoring Center offers after-school tutoring and homework assistance everyday from 3:45 - 4:45 pm. Students who need additional help or mentoring are encouraged to attend. Our mission is to help each student reach his or her full academic potential.
