Peer Tutoring

Mission

 

The Peer Tutoring Club embodies the mission of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School by encouragning students who are called to help their peers and become men and women for others through academic tutoring. Peer tutor’s main priority is to help classmates clarify any academic concerns, be mentors, and motivate peers to exceed school standards.

 

Membership

 

  • Student must have and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • Academically ineligible tutors must attend Homework center and be tutored
  • Display a positive and enthusiastic attitude
  • Must attend meetings (including social events)
  • Are required to tutor at least twice a week after school during Homework Center
  • Must show leadership
  • Must successfully complete tutor training

  

Structure

 

President- The President serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the PTC, and in conjunction with the club moderators and other officers, is responsible for general supervision and operation of the club.  Enthusiasm is contagious, and as a significant school leadership position, the President of the club must serve as a positive role model and motivating force for PTC members.  The President will preside at club meetings, serve as the head liaison between members and moderators, and ensure that the overall workings of the PTC are smooth.

 

Vice President- The Vice President assists the President in all matters and carries out duties of the President when he/she is unable to do so, including the conducting of PTC meetings.  The Vice President is the right-hand man/woman of the President, and as such much have strong communication skills and enthusiasm.  The Vice President must oversee the work of the President and other officers to ensure that things are getting done properly and in a timely manner.

 

Secretary- The Secretary is responsible for maintaining all PTC records.  These include, but are not limited to, accurate member attendance, meeting minutes, and printed material regarding the regular workings of the club.  The Secretary position must be held by someone with strong written, spoken, and organizational skills.

 

 Social Coordinator- Involvement in PTC extends beyond after-school tutoring to include outside social events.  The Social Coordinator is responsible for the primary planning and executing of regular club social events, in conjunction with the other officers and club members.

Upcoming Events –  Tutor Training took place on Feb 3rd 1pm – 3pm ; Tutoring began week of February 5th and continues every day after school.
