Cristo Rey has already begun to welcome our newest Cristeros and their families into the Cristo Rey community. In the midst of the pandemic, freshmen orientation and most other activities have shifted to virtual online experiences.
On June 16, faculty and staff surprised the 150 members of our Class of 2024 with drive-by deliveries of Cristo Rey swag - lawn signs and pennants - along with details about upcoming virtual events.
We hosted a virtual Freshmen Orientation for students and families on June 27 - a success despite the ability to meet in person. The orientation is the first in a series of fun introductory events for the summer. The admissions staff is also planning virtual parent meetings and video tours. Additionally, freshmen will be paired up with a senior mentor to provide peer-to-peer guidance and a friendly welcoming face.
Blanca Gonzalez, Director of Admissions, said of the process: "It is really inspiring to see the entire Cristo Rey community, teachers, staff, current parents and students, rally around the accepted freshmen to help them feel welcome and help them prepare for freshmen year. This is what the Cristo Rey family is all about!"
