Dear Friends of Cristo Rey Jesuit,

I'm honored to greet you in this month's Cristo Rey e-newsletter – especially during Women's History Month. It's a gift to come to work every day at our school and partner with some of the most amazing women who are leaders, counselors, support staff, board members, volunteers, and of course, faculty members.

This month's e-news shares some exciting stories featuring the remarkable women of Cristo Rey. From our Las Chicas and their collaboration with the Junior League of Chicago, to alumni who give back and bring compelling connections and possibilities to our students – we are all about finding ways to advance our Mission of empowerment and education.

Las Chicas & the Junior League

Las Chicas club was formed to create a safe and empowering space for girls at Cristo Rey Jesuit. Director of Counseling Gabriela Garcia reflects on the Chicas, and a special partnership with the Junior League of Chicago.  Read Story.

EY Connect Day at CR

As part of their EY Connect Day, nearly 20 volunteers from EY - including CR alumni Alexis Garcia '16 and Marybel Del Real '16 - spent an afternoon at Cristo Rey Jesuit working with freshmen students. Read full story. 

Celebrating Black History Month

Cristo Rey Jesuit students participated in several events celebrating Black History Month from learning about HBCUs, viewing documentaries, and hearing from poet Allison Elaine Joseph. 

Meeting Dolores Huerta

Last month several CRJ students had the honor to meet and listen to American labor leader and civil rights activist Dolores Huerta with fellow students at St. Ignatius College Prep. Read more.

INVEST IN KIDS:
Illinois Tax Credit Scholarships

The Illinois Tax Credit Scholarship Program has been tremendously helpful to dozens of families at Cristo Rey Jesuit, and nearly 100 more students are currently on a wait list for support. This tax season, you can make a difference by making a gift through Empower Illinois or the Big Shoulders Fund and receive a generous 75% state tax credit for your 2023 filing. Donations made going forward will support students for the 23-24 school year. As you consider a gift, please also support the Remove the Sunset campaign and lend us your voice to keep this vital program going for years to come.
