This is a moment of both reflection and celebration for Cristo Rey Jesuit High School.
As we approach our 30th anniversary, we also prepare to say thank you to Mr. Antonio “Tony” Ortiz, who will conclude his remarkable tenure as President at the end of the 2025–2026 school year. For over two decades, Tony has dedicated himself to the mission of Cristo Rey, ensuring that our students, many of whom are the first in their families to attend college, receive not just an education, but a future.
In this extraordinary moment, we also pause to reflect on the legacy of leadership that has shaped our school since its founding. From Fr. John Foley, S.J. to Fr. James Gartland, S.J., and now Tony, each has brought a deep and abiding commitment to our students, our mission, and our community. Their impact is felt in every classroom, every graduation, and every first-generation college acceptance. In recognition of their collective history, we invite you to honor this legacy with a gift to the Presidential Legacy Fund.
The Presidential Legacy Fund, initially created upon the retirement of Fr. Foley, supports a full-tuition, merit-based scholarship awarded to Cristo Rey students who embody the spirit of our founding leaders: academic excellence, leadership, commitment to faith and service, and a desire to be Men and Women for Others. Preference is given to students whose families have made Cristo Rey a generational choice, i.e. siblings and cousins who also attended our school. In short, this scholarship reflects the very best of Cristo Rey: hard-working families, dedicated students, and transformational opportunities made possible by people like you.
