Donor Profile: Rich Moore
Cristo Rey Jesuit highlights Mr. Richard Moore, a scholarship advocate for our students. Rich has been a supporter since 2017. He is a native of Florence, South Carolina but works in Itasca, Illinois as the Operations Manager of Installation Specialist, Inc.
Rich became acquainted with Cristo Rey Jesuit through a priest friend who is also an educator. “I was interested in finding an organization whose mission was centered on education at the secondary school level.” After being engaged in the CR community, Rich established the Richard Moore Scholarship which provides scholarship assistance for one Cristo Rey student who demonstrates both financial need and exceptional dedication to academic excellence. This scholarship supports the student through their entire academic career at Cristo Rey Jesuit.
When asked what motivated him to support Cristo Rey, Rich responded, “Every time I visit the campus or attend any of the school’s events, I am motivated by the level of enthusiasm exhibited by both the students and faculty/administration. You just know 'good things' are happening.” Rich remains an advocate for our students by encouraging others to give by sharing the Cristo Rey mission and the outcomes of success both at the academic and the Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP) professional work experience level.
Rich believes Cristo Rey is a very unique place and he is “thankful to have the opportunity to interact with the students and administration. This contact provides the opportunity to see the impact my contribution is having on current and future lives which is much more rewarding than reading an organization’s annual report."
Rich is an engaged donor and visits the campus regularly. Rich never misses the annual Our Lady of Guadalupe Celebration and attends ¡VIVA! each May. When asked about his favorite event at Cristo Rey, Rich shared, “I cannot narrow to just one event. ¡VIVA! is always fun, and it is exciting to see so much support from the community for Cristo Rey. However, the annual Sponsorship Breakfast which provides opportunity to interact with the students one on one is the event which I most anticipate."
Rich’s dedication to our students exceeds their time at Cristo Rey as he often stays connected with his Moore Scholars after graduation, keeping in touch and checking in on them as they navigate college life.
Rich’s commitment to Cristo Rey extends beyond his scholarship support as he became a legacy society member through planned giving. Rich said, “helping students get an education, who might not otherwise have the opportunity, is the single most important contribution I can make as an individual. It is a way to have an impact on both current generation and future ones."
