REY OF HOPE AWARD
Bernard Heerey Family Foundation
Bestowed annually by Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, the Rey of Hope Award honors those who believe in a better tomorrow and who commit to inspiring hope in others. This year, Cristo Rey Jesuit presents the Rey of Hope Award to the Bernard Heerey Family Foundation.
Each year since 2006, the Heerey Foundation has provided tuition scholarships for Cristo Rey students whose families either have more than one child attending Cristo Rey or have one child attending Cristo Rey and one or more children attending a parochial grade school. The Foundation supports students whose families can afford to pay the tuition expense of enrolling one child, but not multiple children. In seventeen years, the Foundation has provided Cristo Rey $2.3M in scholarships, benefiting nearly one in five Cristo Rey families. This school year alone, 34 families will benefit from the $100,000 in scholarship support provided by the Foundation.
CORPORATE WORK STUDY PARTNER ANNIVERSARIES
The Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP) anchors Cristo Rey, with 125 job partners employing 450 students, giving them early exposure to careers, valuable networks, and an unmatched professional work experience. These job partners are our champions who invest in our students and give their own employees opportunities to engage with the next generation of the workforce. Our partners and their dedicated team members are the backbone of an innovative program that continues to prove its success through the accomplishments of our 2,450 alumni.
This year at ¡VIVA! we will honor 15 partners celebrating milestone anniversaries with the Corporate Work Study Program.
These anniversaries reinforce the importance of the CWSP within the business, civic, and non-profit sectors of Chicagoland, and demonstrate steadfast commitment to our young people. As we honor these companies, we recognize all the advocates who brought the CWSP to their organizations and the many supervisors and mentors that have served our students since 1996.
