5th Annual Cristo Rey Giving Day
#CRGivingDay is September 28! To celebrate our founding year, this 1996-minute period will be a time for the Cristo Rey community to come together and show our Cristero Pride.
Cristo Rey’s Annual Giving Day raises funds in support of the Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP). For our 5th Annual Giving Day, we will raise $40,000 towards Cristo Rey’s new Anchor Fund, which supports all aspects of the CWSP.
Starting this year, Cristo Rey’s schedule will include Anchor Day, the first time in Cristo Rey’s history that all students will be on campus. Each Friday, students will receive workforce training from organizations like Code Nation, Economic Awareness Council, and Prismatic. The training will focus on financial literacy, career development, technology, and soft skills to set our students up for success in college, careers, and beyond. Anchor Fund seeks to sustain and grow the CWSP program as we adapt to the reality of the ever-evolving workforce.
What is Anchor Day?
Chief Impact Officer Morgan Collier, Sr. Training Manager Mike Duarte and Sr. Director of Corporate Work Study Program Sahrish Russell tell us about Cristo Rey's new Anchor Day and how you can help support this new initiative on Cristo Rey Giving Day.
What do Students Learn?
Meet Karla and Jose, two of our students who received training from Code Nation last year as freshmen. While Karla was nervous and uninterested in computers, Jose was always curious and excited. At the end of the training, both students had a great experience, and their knowledge of computers expanded. They now know how to use JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and jQuery. Thanks to their training, students like Karla and Jose are now better equipped with proper technology skills that will set them up for success in college, careers, and beyond.
Who are our Training Partners?
As students progress through the Code Nation programs, they will gain increased exposure to tech careers, including work-based learning experiences. The curriculum is updated annually in collaboration with volunteers to ensure our students gain relevant real-world knowledge and skills.
Economic Awareness Council is a non-profit organization whose mission is to prepare students and families for the economic and financial decisions they will make both today and tomorrow.
Prismatic's leadership programs complement academics by teaching the five cornerstones of Social-Emotional Learning: self-awareness, self-management, relationship skills, social awareness, and responsible decision-making. These five national standardized social and emotional skills build confidence in leadership.
Thank you for helping our students succeed in the workforce and beyond.
