Grade Level Requirements

Guided by our Ignatian values, Cristo Rey students act on "faith that does justice." All students are required to complete a minimum number of community service hours each year. Students are encouraged to volunteer beyond the minimum requirements that will be added to their record for purposes of financial aid, scholarships, and awards. These hours must be completed off-campus at an approved non-profit agency and must be completed on non-school hours.

Beyond the minimum requirement, students are encouraged to participate as volunteers in any approved school activity or off-campus event, earning service hours that will be added to their record for purposes of financial aid, scholarships, and awards. A maximum of 5 hours are allowed for on approved school activity such as Summer Camp and Asamblea de Padres, but are not required. All service hours must be completed and handed in to Ms. Juarez by the deadlines below.

As of August 19, 2019, races such as the Marathon will no longer be accepted as required community service. Although this type of service is not accepted, participation is encouraged and will be counted as additional service to the student's record for purposes of financial aid, scholarships, and awards.

Pre-requisites: Students will receive an e-mail with the Mobile Serve account set up steps. Their religion teacher will provide you with a service proposal form which will be turned back to them for a grade. The deadline is September 9, 2019. On the week of September 9, students will receive a message if you have not set up the Mobile Serve account.

  • Freshman and Sophomore requirement
    • 10 Service hours of a completed project per school year
    • Deadlines: October 25 (5 hours), January 17 (5 hours) = 10 total
  • Junior and Senior requirement
    • 15 service hours of a completed project per school year
    • Deadlines: October 25 (5 hours), January 17 (5 hours), March 20 (5 hours) = 15 total


Students are to log in their service hours via the Mobile Serve app or website. An e-mail from supervisor, phone number, a short description of volunteer day, a picture, and signature will be required for approval. A reflection will be collected every quarter by your religion teacher.

Failure to comply will lead to postponement of re-registration packet.
